Blue beats Red 3:1
Okulaba Good Shepherd Primary School in Mubende, Uganda is fully operational; around 40 students from pre-primary to primary 3 are eagerly learning. Headmaster Agnes and the two teachers are happy with the progress.
They have achieved so much in the last months. The desks and benches that were bought with donations from you, are put to good use. There is clean water from a nearby well that was dug using traditional building methods. The toilets are working, as is the kitchen where the students are getting their meals. This is an important function of the school since meals at home are often irregular.
Still a lot of things remain to be done, among others putting in a ceiling in the building that will make it less noisy when the students in the adjecent class start to sing. The walls need to be plastered. There is a lack materials for teaching posters.
Excitement rippled through the students when the teachers distributed sports clothes and soccer balls that were sponsored by PUMA. Students took to the school grass field and engaged in an enthusiastic game. Rules were a little free in interpretation but the energy was boundless.
